My Studio

Its been a while since I posted. We bought a house and have been busy moving. It's wonderful to finally have a place to settle down and call home after all these years. The best part is I now have a place to work. We converted the garage into my studio. Just one problem--it's over 90 degrees in there. One day I'll have to get an air conditioner. Until then, I can't wait for fall.

People do like Art

Yesterday I went to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. I mention that because they display art from local artists there. What I noticed was that the people seemed to actually enjoy looking at the art--especially the sculptures. That's so different than what I expected. Maybe it was the outdoor environment--I don't know. I just know that I was beginning to think that the only people who liked art were other artists.

Thomas Kinkade

I went to see Thomas Kinkade this past Saturday. I was looking forward to meeting him and seeing some of his works up close. Instead I was disappointed to learn that his paintings were merely canvas prints with painted highlights on them. I hope the people buying them realize these are not good investments. I also couldn't help thinking that he didn't seem like someone who would want to paint quaint little cottage scenes. He seemed like someone who would enjoy painting things more edgy and modern (just my opinion).

Orange Mountain

Ive been trying to use up my cheaper paints before investing in better quality materials. This was my attempt at using up some orange.

Shades of Grey

This started out as an under painting for adding color later. Then I decided I kind of liked it the way it was.

Snow and Ice

Nothing like a little cold weather to make you think of winter. I wanted it to have a feel of snow and ice without being too literal.
